annoying click/blip sound whenever a sound is played

Hello

I just installed the latest KX driver yesterday and I'm quite happy so far.

When I play a song/movie, there is a blip sound at the beginning. Same happens with system sounds.

I use XP SP3, KX Driver 3550, Audigy4

The creative driver I used till yesterday, did not have this problem.

Can you please give me any advice, except switching back to the creative driver?

I'm afraid I don't know the answer, but I've had the same issue with XP SP 3, the 3539 build and an audigy 2 zs.

Have you tried playing with the buffer settings? You can find them when you right click the kX tray icon, under the main menu item 'Settings'.

Yes, I tried changing some parameters under "setup buffers", but this only resulted in a distorted signal.

Right click on KX mixer, go to settings/reset global settings and click on that. See if it makes any difference.....

Which Audigy 4 do you have?

I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 4(SB0610).

Unfortunately, resetting global/device settings doesn't solve the problem.

Okay, doing the reset just gets all back to card defaults, sometimes it can clear up odd behavior.

How do you have your speakers set both in Windows and in KX, Windows should be set to 5.1, even though the card has 7.1 capability, and the setting in KX matches what you have actually in use (stereo 2.0, 4.1, etc.) This is the way I have mine set and I'm running stereo. Things will be different if you are running digital output I would imagine, I've never setup digital out personally... so I know little about it.

I have an SB0610 myself running XP SP3 and 3550 with no problems so it's not a model specific or OS specific problem here. If the above doesn't change anything, and if possible try the card in a different PCI slot and see if that changes behavior any. Do you have on-board sound? (motherboard) If so turn it off in the BIOS (shouldn't be conflicting but lets rule that out for now.)

How much ram you got in your system?

Re: annoying click/blip sound whenever a sound is played

I have the same problem (though with Emu 0404, not Audigy 4). I noticed if you switch the playback buffer to 4080 bytes it stops the clicking entirely (except for very short sounds) but if the sound stream gets interrupted or something (changing the output device of a program) it causes horrible continuous clicking which doesn't go away until you set the buffer higher again.

Trying 3548 currently... still clicks though possibly not as often... I'll let you know if I find out anything else. But you should probably try older driver versions to see if anything changes.
