Hi,
I explain my problem (possibly bug ?)
I have audio card CT4760 and windows 7, but official driver doesn’t run…
I install your software, Kx audio driver 3550 (last version)
But, i wish install driver, your software ask me to install CT4670 and NOT the CT4760 version.. and therefore during driver installation that’s freeze.
Is it problem 6 and 7 reverse between ct4670 and ct4760 ? because are really not same version audio card.

Did you answer "yes" and continue the install? They will probably work even if the install says it's a different card. Both of those cards are Live! 4.1 and with KX should use the same generic driver as far as I know.

After i click to 'Yes' (when it asks me to install ct4670 driver), that's search driver, and during installation, that's freeze..

I don't understand...

I must reboot manually, and kx driver doesn't install..

Okay, I wasn't sure what you meant at first. There may be a problem with that card or a conflict with something. Did you completely uninstall the other drivers you tried .... (official drivers, you said) To my knowledge there are no official live! drivers for Win7 so I'm not sure what you installed other than the KX. Make sure it's all uninstalled, KX and what you tried first. Also if you have onboard (motherboard) sound make sure it is disabled in the bios. If you have another PCI slot, move the card to a different slot......

Then try KX install again. Make sure you run the install program as admin.

I have already disabled sound motherboard in the bios.
I'll see other slot and delete if i find old driver..

Hi,

I install a new windows 7 in other drive and 3550 kx drivers for my ct4760 sound card.
Same problem, that's freeze.. and after reboot, sound card option is not well installed.

If it's freezing during the install it's not going to be complete, thus the yellow warning. Why it's freezing? I don't know....... When doing the install do you have other programs running, like an anti-virus or something?


Just occurred to me.... are you sure you have the right version 32bit or 64bit?

i don't think other program to block. It's a new windows 7 in other HDD i have installed yesterday
i have just install 1 program, it was 3550 kx driver only.

you ask me if i have a 32 bits or 64 bits ? for sound blaster card ? or win 7 ?

Because i think sound blaster live! ct4760 just 16 bits and win 7 it's x86 ultimate edition then 32 bits. Therefore not 64 bits for my hardware/software.

I have an card extension to have digital output to plug in my ct4760 (optical and coaxial output), same i remove it, kx driver freezes and i have a yellow warning after reboot.

I'm angry, because new card, cost 140 € (180 $ USD) to have digital output, and connect to my home cinema, and any problems with vista/7.
I know this card is very old, but i would use awhile again lol.

About the 32bit/64bit.... The KX driver version needs to match your Windows version. If your Windows 7 is 32bit you need to use the 32bit version of KX...... (64bit for 64bit)

The card extension won't make any difference, if it's the proper one for your card you should leave it connected. Make sure it's the right one though or it could cause other problems..... creative used two different 40 pin connection headers and they are not interchangeable.

If your Windows 7 installation also includes Microsoft's "security essentials" That is an anti-virus and should be disabled during KX install....... It may have been installed as part of windows install and you didn't notice.... I know it (security essentials) can cause problems with other types of drivers so may be an issue here.


Most people don't have installation problems with KX....... If they have problems it's function related, install works fine. I did a search of the forums yesterday and found very little that might help you out, so I'm at a loss...... There was one post from a guy with the same card you have and he couldn't install into XP..... I don't know if there's a problem specific to this card or not..... It is a very early model of the Live! card.

i don't understand, i haven't Microsoft Security Essentials, and, i've made a windows 7 installation clean.

The question : why installation does kx driver freeze my computer ?

I wish I had a simple answer for your question, I tried to think of everything I know that could be causing this on your system but I've mentioned everything I know of, above. Are you sure you ran the KX install as administrator? (Right click.... "run as administrator" ) Some people have had to do that under Win7.

unfortunately, not change. it's doing same thing. freeze..
i add some thing : after reboot, under windows 7, it searches again drivers for my audio card, and freeze again.

In fact, after kx installation, i must reboot 2 times.. to stop drivers loading freezes.

When windows searches for drivers it's finding the ones that don't work, so that kinda makes sense, for windows that is..... It's trying them again, so to speak.

What kind of system is this hardware wise, (mobo/processor/ram etc.) anything out of the ordinary? Also when was the last time you saw this card working?

And a thing i don't really understand, why does pc detect a ct4850 sound card, then i have a ct4760. When i install kx driver is a question of ct4670 lol. Maybe is it problem of freeze ?


The last time ct4760 runs, when i had my old computer, a p3 intel with windows xp professional sp2.
The official driver runs so !

But i have thought to install across virtual pc (xp), but my actual pc haven't got this ability.

I don't think installing via virtual pc would work even if your PC could run it..... not for a driver install.

So, originally KX was seeing your ct4760 card as a ct4670 and now config is calling it a ct4850? It really sounds like there's a fault with that card. Sometimes the flash mem on the card can get scrambled and there's nothing you can do about that. It's rare but it does happen and could cause your system to freeze I guess. I'm not seeing anything different with your system specs that might be causing this, thanks for posting them.

Short of trying this card in a different machine and a different card in your PC for diagnostics, I'm out of ideas here.

(but with xp sp2 version max.)

I would doing other test, but the most of friend/family have got a portable computer or/and haven't got windows 7

On the other hand, i'll see if sound card runs again simply on windows xp sp2 OS.

I don't found my windows xp cd version to test my sound card.

On the other hand, i can use spdif to my mainboard and my video card via dvi/hdmi adapter!
And i've buying that : MSI Motherboard S/PDIF-Out Connector JSP1 Audio cable en vente sur eBay.fr (fin le 12-mai-10 15:49:59 Paris)

For audio optical cable !

Finally, audio is regulate for my computer !

That looks like a solution, and maybe a better solution than the old Live! card..... easier anyways. Enjoy!
