Win7 64 + 3550 + SB0244: unsupported formats and choppy playback
Installed this combination after my X-Fi Fatal1ty broke (started hanging up the pc).
It's Asus P5E64 WS Evolution + Q9550 + 4GB RAM + Win 7 64bit + GF 285GTX When i set foobar2000 for Kernel Stream HQ output, i get Code:
Unrecoverable playback error: Unsupported stream format: 44100 Hz / 16-bit / 2 channels KS numbered outputs work fine but that's not available on all apps and stops sound from other apps from working. WASAPI throws same error for any output (HQ, Mixer, numbered outputs) DirectSound throws Code:
Unrecoverable playback error: Unknown error code (0x88890008) DirectSound works on Master Mixer and numbered outputs, but I get a kind of 'noisy' playback (the same goes for all apps including windows sounds and games). It sounds kind of like a few random samples (its more a click, no longer than 250ms (my guess), than continuous noise) sneaking in the stream at random times. Tried messing with buffers to no avail. Am I doing anything wrong or is it some kind of bug? |

try not using Master Mixer as default playback device and also try 48000 hz instead.

44.1kHz mode will not work in Windows 7/Vista, since kX does not provide SRC for these OSes
Try 48 kHz instead. Newer driver releases also require 24-bit playback instead of 16-bit. (You need to use '24-bit packed into 32-bit container' in this case). E. |
