exclamation No Sound in Halo 2 - AC3???!

Hello
I am trying to play Halo 2 but every time I open it sound stops working - I will hear sound at first but after a few seconds a little thing in the corner pops up that says AC3 Decode 1001, then the sound stops.

How to fix?!?!

Re: No Sound in Halo 2 - AC3???!

A little more info on what sound card, video card, and OS you are using would help a lot. Plus it would help if you could list what you are using to listen to the audio with, such as via speakers, headphones, or speakers on your monitor... that sort of thing.

Without that I can only suggest this: if this is Windows 7 you are using you could try disabling any other audio devices except the one you are using within the Control Panel | Sound. Under the "Playback" tab disable everything you do not need. The idea here is to force Windows into making the only device left available the... well.. only device available to play back sound with (or rather, to force it being the default). This is espeically useful if you are having trouble with the onboard audio of your video card (ATI/AMD or Nvidia).

BTW, when you do this the default is for Windows 7 to hide disabled devices, so if you want to see them again just right-click within the Playback window, and select to "Show Disabled Devices".
