Unreal Tournament sound problems
Since 3534b i have a sound prob in UT (it's still there in 3534c).
In the [Galaxy.GalaxyAudioSubsystem] section of the ini file I took the time and tested out some cases with 2 parameters. 1st case conditions: main sound is ok, but ambient (background) gets pitch shifted and plays faster than normal. UseDirectSound=False Use3dHardware=False ;or True - no change log says: Init: Galaxy is using WinMM Init: Galaxy initialized or UseDirectSound=True Use3dHardware=False log says: Init: Galaxy is using DirectSound Init: EAX 1.x sound hardware found! Init: Galaxy initialized => this persists until i go to the menu and select Options->Preference. In this moment, the ambient sound is back as usual. 2nd case condition: both main sound and ambient have inconsistent volume level, they appear and reappear by moving around a bit. After startup - no initial sound is played while accessing the menu UseDirectSound=True Use3dHardware=True log-file says: Init: Galaxy is using DirectSound Init: EAX 1.x sound hardware found! Init: Galaxy initialized => no way to resolve this __________ Here is the rest of the ini-section that i used in both cases unchanged (afterwards i changes useFiler etc. but no effects): [Galaxy.GalaxyAudioSubsystem] UseFilter=False UseSurround=False UseStereo=True UseCDMusic=False UseDigitalMusic=False UseSpatial=False UseReverb=False LowSoundQuality=False ReverseStereo=False Latency=40 OutputRate=22050Hz EffectsChannels=16 MusicVolume=0 SoundVolume=128 AmbientFactor=0.700000 DopplerSpeed=0.000000 ----Hardware / Software configuration--------------- Treiber Name:kX Audio Driver (Debug) Treiber Datum: Jul 24 2003 23:05:00 Treiber Version: 5.10.00.3534 - debug DB Name:none CT4832 10k1 [d400] PCI Information: Device: 21102 Subsys: 80271102 ChipRev: 8 Card has MPU device Card HAS AC97 codec Codec name: Unknown AC97 codec [43525914 3D Extension: Crystal Semi 3D Stereo Enhancement Codec is 2.0 compliant Capabilities[1990] : -headphone out- DAC resolutions : -16-bit- -20-bit- ADC resolutions : -16-bit- -18-bit- Ext Capabilities [200]: -slot/DAC mappings- Port: d400 Irq: 11 Playback buffer: 20a0 Record buffer: 4000 Number of AC3 buffers: 4 Tank memory: 256 kb GSIF buffer: 512 samples OS version: [2 5 1 Service Pack 1; 2 5 1 Service Pack 1; 156 148] ---------------------------------------------------- in 3534c-thread there is another post describing a similar/the dsame problem: >>I don't know if it's been fixed but 3534b had mjor problems >>with doppler shifting (?) in games - once objects start moving, >>any sounds they were emitting had the pitch/freq unpredictably changed. PS: KX-Asio in Cubase / Reason is fine now, great work! |

I have UT, I just installed 3534 drivers and I guess I will install UT to test this out. Although I have always had problems with directsound locking me up so I don't know. Oh and quick question, which card are you using? Just noticed you have Use3DHardware set to true on that last one and people have been reporting problems with 3d sound. Of course this can be expected since it has just been implemented not even fully and needs lots of testing.

Ok I tested it out without directsound or 3d, with just directsound, and with both. The only one I had a problem with was when I used both. Of course without directsound I could not have 3dhardware so that makes sense. It seemed that when I would pickup items the sound of me picking them up would cutout. The overall sound was quieter too.
