soundfonts don't play correctly

I'm delighted with the latency, VST-instruments now seem to play back quicker than Soundfonts used to with Creative's drivers. But there's a problem - all my Soundfonts seem to be at maximum treble, there's no frequency cut-off in any of them, and filters in the Soundfonts don't seem to be recognised. Is this just me having problems and I need to tick a box, or is this something which was outside the design objectives of kx? For instance, "Very Mellow Piano" sounds identical to "Very Bright Piano", and equally bright and trebley.
Also I suspect (not sure) that the individual layers are all playing at max volume, rather than being different volumes like they were set at.
I've had to take the kx drivers off, but I'd love to be able to use kx drivers for both VST-i and Soundfonts, so I hope someone can let me know what's going wrong.

right-click kx icon in the taskbar and go to settings -> synth compatibility... try changing these.

System Specs

it shows the compatibility options of the SF synths, whether those MIDI controllers have any effect on the synth

soundfonts don't play correctly

I re-installed kx and did what you suggested, BiCho, but it hasn't made any difference. So I put some SoundFonts into Vienna, and it seems that single layered Soundfonts, (or the first layer in them,) play OK, maybe a little brighter than normal - but OK. But lower layers seem to be unable to read the Filter Cutoff in "Modulation Envelope" right, or if at all. Typically this slider has no effect from +24000 to -24000 and all points in between, (whereas with Creative's drivers there's a big change) and I think it's these lower layers that are making the sounds really bright, it's the moving filter effects towards a low cut-off that are being lost and replaced with a moving filter towards lots of brightness. i'll try with a couple of soundfonts this weekend to check what you're saying. are you the same who did "gort's collection" of soundofnts? do those have multiple layers so i can try them on kX?

I was refering to the meaning of each option. I couldn't find documentation for it.

each option is a type of midi control value… if kX doesn;t have documentation a google search should find something

I think from what I've been reading so far, that the Modulation Envelope is still under contruction as far as the kx drivers are concerned. There's still some work going into the soundfont portion of kx.

soundfont layers

Hiya BiCho, yes I'm the same gort that did the "Gort's Synth" stuff - but they were done on an old SB-Live and some of the loops which were fine on old SB-Lives are wrong on newer SB-Lives. I've just updated them (got a new machine a couple of weeks ago) so they all now loop OK but only on my machine, and I'll try and send you an updated SoundFont where all the loops are OK, and indicate a sound/voice to try out. Many of the sounds do have multiple layers, but the lower layers don't always have Cut-Off. I think what NightBreed is saying may offer an explanation for what's happening. P.S. if you can think of a good site to post the SFont updates, then I'll send them there.
