Sblive Spdif Trouble
I'm new to the KX driver pack, and found that it worked great with an Audigy 2. Cubase SX 2.0 sounded and performed much better. However, using the latest KX driver on a system with a CT-4620 SBLIVE card, I can't access the digital out on the KX mixer. The 'toggle digital out' selection is stuck with a checkmark, and there is no pulldown menu for the digital out sample rate. Also, the system began freezing upon Cubase startup after the KX install and reboot. I completely uninstalled the Creative drivers and applications before installing KX. The uninstall of the creative drivers was done in the driver setup program, selecting 'remove device'.
The KX mixer pannel on the system with the Audigy 2 had many features and selections than on my system with the SBLIVE. Is this normal for the CT-4620 model SBLIVE? My configuration is below. Any ideas? Second question: Has anybody out there experienced the SBLIVE being used in a VST System Link configuration with Cubase SX 2.0? I'm planning on creating a two system link with either the CT-4620 SBLIVE or an Audigy 2 on the second system for FX, and a M-Audio Audiophile 2496 on the main computer. How well do the KX drivers work in a VST System Link application? Any suggestions on this? I would like to avoid buying 2 Audiophile 2496 cards if possible. Thanks in advance, JohnBuck

On my second system I have a ct-4620 and use the daughter board's spdif connections going to a from the live drive on my audigy. The system transfers sounds back and forth with out any checking or unchecking of anything. It's almost like it comes on when it's connected kind of thing.
Have you tried connecting a digital sourse to these connections to see if the spdif indicator pops up on the screen? |

As for your second question. I do have both audigy and live from the second computer connected via. midi and spdif and both computers connected by a lan line (I use the lan line for another midi port and for remote vst and vsti control.) Vst linking works fine at present, so you shouldn't have any problems with this.

VSL Sample Rates?
I have not yet tried to attach a digital input, only sending a signal through the output. I was concerned about using the Live cards for the System Link, because I know that creative labs only outputs at a 48k sample rate. My current project is a ton of 44.1k wav files, and I was concerned that System link would not work becasue the SBLIVe couldn't output 44.1k. It seems that the KX drivers give the LIVE the ability to scale down to the 44.1k range. But with your Sound Blaster successes with the system link, are you exclusively using 48k? Or are you still seeing stable behavior at 44.1?

to record in ASIO you must use 48khz… it is possible to to resample to the desired rate in a program like soundforge, by using the save as function and changing the samplerate

You MUST use 48k? Why then does the KX mixer panel have a pulldown menu on both SPDIF in and out that ranges in values from 44.1k-96k? My only reason for using SPDIF to begin with is to set up a VST System Link configuration between 2 computers. All of my files are digitized with an ADAT edit system, and are stored at 16/44.1 mono wav files (for this specific project).
New wav files will be recorded to Cubase SX2 directly, via the analog unbalanced inputs, and recorded as 16/44.1 stereo files. My next project will certainly be 48k at least, but for now I am committed to 44.1k files and still want to set up a second computer in a VST System Link to process effects. Is it completely impossible to run a VST System Link configuration using SPDIF connectors and 16/44.1k wav files? I appreciate all your help, we're getting excellent feedback on this stuff.

all i know is that kX will not record audio in ASIO that is not 48khz, due to the DSP chip being locked at 48khz, there is no way to fix this…
