kX with CT4670?
Hello,
a few months ago I bought a SBLive! CT4670 Value from eBay. I briefly tried kX, but didn't get it working (I have Win98SE), so I switched to the APSLive-Driver, which worked perfectly. Now I would like to try Soundfonts with my MIDI-Keyboard and some more advanced musics stuff, and I saw that kX would be perfect for that. So I uninstalled the APSLive-Drivers and tried the latest kX-driver, which again didn't work: After installation/rebooting, there is a dialog box that states kxmixer cannot be loaded and i should reinstall the drivers. After several frustrating reinstalls/reboots I gave up. In the system settings the kX-driver shows up and win98 says the device is ready. Can anybody help me? Are there logfiles or something so I could check in detail what goes wrong? thanks Denis |

strange one… does windows xp automatically reinstall creative or its own built in drivers? if so find all instances of driver.cab and rename to driver.bak, and run the driverheaven cleaner to get rid of creative drivers - www.hardwareheaven.com/cleanerhopefully that will work

I have win98, not win xp. I never had the creative drivers installed, cause I heard they suck. There was an EMU APS-driver pack that worked on SBLives, with very low latency, so I used that one, I think it was from XPEACE (or so it said on uninstalling). The driver is cleanly removed, and the kX-driver is the only one that is installed.

check for IRQ conflicts… this guide should help you with that…
check the device manager in the system control panel to see what shows up
