Volume Control Linearity ?
Hi.
I'm using a SBLive5.1Platinum card with Windows XP. When I changed from using the Creative driver to the kX driver quite some time ago, I noticed that the level sliders were no longer linear in their operation. They appear to control the levels somewhat logarithmically with most of the volume being controlled in the first half of the slider travel. (ie by the time the slider is half way up, the volume is almost full) What it means is that it's very difficult to adjust low volume levels, as the slider minimum step size results in a fairly large volume increase. I need to keep changing my external amplifier volume as I can't get useful dynamic range control out of the computer's volume control. I have re-installed the kX drivers many times and kept updating to the latest driver in the hope it would solve it. This is of course not enough to make me go back to the Creative driver ![]() Since the Creative driver didn't have this problem, I was wondering if it was a bug. Has anyone else had this effect? I would appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks in advance, Michael |

yes, certain volume controls seem to be not linear...
due to slightly 'strange' kx<->windows relationship ![]() /E |
