General Playback Problem

First I'm not sure if it is a real bug, but I need help to solve this problem.

I have installed the 3536 KX drivers and I have the following problem:
Either I play a single WAV sample or a soundfont (the software doesn't matter) the first few milliseconds of the sample(s) can't be heared. As I wanted to check out how many milliseconds are left out, I noticed that they aren't left out, but that there is a kind of attack time, a very short fade in about 5-7 ms long.

I found that out by generating a short silent WAV sample in Sound Forge. At the end of the WAV sample I drawed with the pencil tool a single click. When I put the start course at the very begining of the click and played the sample, I almost heard nothing. But the farer I put the starting curser away from the click when I played the sample the louder it became.

The consequence is that drum samples and other percussive sound materials aren't played correctly 'cause the attack is missing. I have this problem with my APS and with my SBLive. I tried several buffer settings but nothing helped. So now I need your help. The only thing I can tell for sure is that it has nothing to do with Win98SE, because I had the same problem under WinXP.

Thanks in advance for any help

T.

PS: The KX speaker test doesn't work, just for the case this belongs to the problem mentioned above.

this issue sounds really interesting… please try using the latest 3537 drivers… but it sounds like it is a hardware problem (capicitors are what i'm thinking…)

First thanks for your reply.

I updated to 3537 now (the installation of the full version didn't work - windows didn't load completely after first reboot), but that hasn't fixed the problem. But I discovered something by accident. While I have Cubase VST 32 open the WAV playback works (again the playback software doesn't matter), but as soon as I close Cubase the old error returns - how confusion... .
I also guessed that it could have something to do with my hardware. What do you mean with "capicitors" (my English knowledge is limited) and how can I fix the problem you're thinking of?

It has to be something with the software if it works that way, because the only thing that can happen to capacitors (Rat 41, these are electronic components found on the sound card itself) is burn out and that way I guess there will be no sound at all.

I'm sure the soundcards are okay. But, are there any BIOS settings which could effect the behaviour of a soundcard, or are there mainboards which aren't fully compatible (to the soundcards and/or to the KX drivers) or something like that.
By the way, the original APS drivers (v1.5) work fine, but with the original Creative drivers of my SBLive I have the same problem.

@Tiger M
Thank You. But in first line I was confused by the spelling mistake (capacitors/capicitors).
Only the WAV playback works that way, but not the soundfont (SYNTH) playback.
