Hello everyone!
Here's an interesting issue that I've been battling with over the past several months. If I select the kX ASIO driver in Cubase and start playback, after a while the sound starts breaking up. The interesting thing is that if all of the ASIO inputs are disconnected in Cubase, this problem does not appear! This happens with any latency, except that with higher latencies you have to wait more. When this weirdness starts, resetting the ASIO driver fixes the problem for a while. This only happens with the kX ASIO driver, it's perfectly fine when using kernel-mode WDM streaming or ASIO-to-KS bridge drivers or any other interface. My SBLive sits on its own IRQ. I've tried moving the card to another slot, but this doesn't help. I've installed all of the latest driver versions for my hardware. My configuration: Windows XP Professional, SP 1a AMD Athlon XP 2500+ EPoX EP-8RDA3+ motherboard, with Silicon Image SiI 3112 SATA controller, nForce 2 Ultra chipset in dual-channel mode Samsung SP1213C drive sitting on the SATA controller ASUS V6800 video card (GeForce256 DDR, 32MB) SBLive! Value sound card (Model CT4832 value) kX Driver version 3537 Any ideas, guys? |

dj_stick: Thanks for the reply. I've just tried installing 3538 per your suggestion, but the bug remains. It does appear to take a tiny bit longer to begin breaking up, though.

maybe your overloading the computer? cubase sx is a resource hog. if i run the grand vsti @ 2.66ms latency it will start producing a bad digital clipping sound from overflowing.

bling: Nope. This happens at any latency setting with a simple 3-track project using no effects/vstis.

still even with a single VSTi loaded, if you set the latency too low you will get crackling
