kx.sys crashes during MIDI-Playing
Hi!
Recently once in a while (about every 10th song i listen to) kx.sys crashes and i get a Blue Window: Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Address: BFD72558 base at BFD49000 Date Stamp 40313a39 - kx.sys After that all i can do is restart my computer. I already thought that my soundfont caused it to crash, but i tried an other one and still had the problem. Hope you will be able to fix that - in case u need more info: just tell me what to do. (sending log files, installing debuging software ...) robert |

i am running win 2k where irq sharing is basically enabled:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;q252420 so all my PCI-Devices plus some onboard devices run on IRQ 9 PCI: SB Live Value NEC 1394 Realtek Network Card ITE IT 8212 IDE Controller Onboard: VIA USB controller VIA Vinyl AC 97 (second soundcard) to be honest i activated the onboard card just 2 month ago. But i'm not sure how much i've been playing midis in that time. i hope that this is not the problem, since i need the second device for my Headset |

is there a way to reproduce this issue by playing back particular midi file? or it is comletely random? if yes, please try to find the exact MIDI sequence that causes a crash. also, check if you are using built-in synth (kX Synth) or Microsoft synth

ok, I'm using kX Synth 1 directly (meaning that the programm can choose the device itself - instead of using the MIDI Mapper and then selecting kX Synth 1 in the Windows Settings)
It is not a special sequence. Actually it must have something to do with the initinalization, since the error occurs when i load a new song. Sometimes the error comes right on the first song i try to play. Sometimes i can play about 7 to 8 songs in a row until the pc crashes. And it is no specific file either. If I restart I can load the midi-file that had just crashed before without a problem. And thanx for the help! Robert Just for the Record. I'm using VanBasco Karaoke Player to playback my Midis. |

thanx for the info
however i found a workaround just use midi-mapper instead of the kx device and select the kx device as the default windows midi playback device in the control panel. |

I have the same problems when playing MIDI via VanBasco's MIDI player.
[Wink2k SP4, kx drivers 3537] The workaround is good, but does anyone know the cause of this issue? |
