??? Audigy2: Center turns off after a while

I used the forum's search feature to check if somebody had the same problem before, but i didn't find any matching results.

my problem is simple to explain: if i boot my pc and immediately start foobar and listen to music everything works properly and fine - the sub is working, as well as my 5 sats. but after a while the center speaker turns off. switching my soundsystem off and on again does not help, only a reboot of the computer makes the center work again. so the root of the problem seems to be a software bug.

here some information:

not necessarily a software fault. It could be the card itself that has developed a fault. My original A2 had a similar problem and then eventually stopped working altogether.
I gave it to a friend who installed it in his machine, used it for a month without incident until it died completely.

Have you removed, re-installed the drivers. Its always a good starting point for diagnosis.
Even installing the card into a different slot may be a good idea.

i don't think so, because the official creative drivers have been running quite well. (linux is working perfect, too)
the better quality when listening to music made me a fan of the kx driver.

any other ideas?

edit:
a possible compromise could be a way to reload the driver without a complete restart of windows - i believe that this would solve the problem. but how can i do it?

i reinstalled the driver twice and tried to use the 3538h but nothing changed - the center speaker even stayed quiet once, directly after the system had startet...

any ideas?

Have you tried with a different music player?

Try right clicking on the kX tray icon and choose settings, reset both global and device settings. You'll then have to re-set the surrounder to 5.1.

Are you using Asio or direct sound with Foobar? I read at the Foobar forum a while ago that it's useless using Asio, it makes no difference in sound quality and you don't need low latency listening to mp3 and such. I never tried it personally, I use Winamp direct sound into fxbus 4/5, never had a problem.

Thanks for your answer!!

I'm using foobar with KernelStreaming Output, I made the best experiences with this. I was also using DirectSound for a few days, but something makes my ears believe in the slightly better sound quality of KearnelStreaming.
But that all makes no difference to my center-problem. The problem doesn't only occur when listening to music - if the center has switched off once, you can't get any sound out of it without rebooting the computer... pretty annoying

I tried to reset all settings like you said, but it didn't help.

HELP!!! ;(
