Sad Annoying problem-please help!

Here: http://tesla.rcub.bg.ac.yu/~rmarco/sound.wav

is a recording (11 Kb) I made with my flash mp3 player and it represents an annoying thing that happens with my music, sound, etc. from time to time. I'm delighted to use KX driver, but this thing is really annoying me. When it happens, I'am forced to reboot the system, since there is no way to reset the sound device.

My system configuration is:

AMD Athlon 1800+, 512 RAM, QDI KuDoz 7A KT400 mainboard, SB Live! (SB0222)

I started another similar thread a few months ago, but since I can't find it on the forum, I started another one. In the meantime, I bought a flash mp3 player and made this recording. Please help me, if you can! I would really like to use KX driver.

same problem here
after a certain time (sometimes 5min after reboot sometimes it never happens sometimes after 7h) there's sth like an explosion (but not very loud though) and after that only a lout *beep* if i wanna listen to music or sth like that. but it seems to be a problem with the drivers cuz the creative drivers worked fine and my other soundcard is workin too.

PC Configuration:

Windows 2000 Professional
Amd Athlon 2600+
Western Digital 120 GB
Radeon 9800 Pro
Creative Audigy 2 ZS
Asus A7N8X-E

so thx for help

I think I've found the cause for this. The problem starts to occur when I install drivers for my KWorld BT878 TV tuner card and WinXP with ACPI support. If I don't install those drivers, or if I install XP without ACPI support, the problem doesn't occur.

Best regards,

M. R.

I'm afraid it's not that simple. You need to change HAL to from "ACPI Uniprocessor PC" or "ACPI PC" to "MPS Uniprocessor PC" or "Standard PC". (see: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;309283). However, this will create the infamous "WinXP powerdown issue". (see: http://aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.php)

till then i just use the modded creative 4 drivers for my soundcard although they dont sound as good as the kx drivers
