Line-in front/rear output problem
I'm using a very simple profx kxproject setup used for the sole reason that I can use both the rear and front outputs for different things with totally different settings, over the regular creative drivers. I have speakers connected to rear output and headphones connected to front... anyways I'm having a problem with line in from my tvtuner only working with the front output and not outputting into the rear, so my headphones get audio and my speakers get nothing. At the same time I want to use my microphone.. so this is what I'm using.
http://www.rwx.ca/websight/kxproject.jpg specs: SB Live Value! OEM, latest Kx 3538 drivers. I'm not sure if it's a bug, or a hardware limitation that the linein can only work with the front output, but I'll just post it here |

Hi Elanzer:
Make sure the SRC you named Wave is set to FXBus 0/1, and you should have sound from all 4 speakers (but sound in rear speakers will be copied sound from front L/R) using the DSP setup you have, unless there's an issue with your souncard I dont know about. For true 4/.1 surround sound Do this: Set the SRC you named Wave to FXBus 0/1, then connect Wave output to kXlt Analog front Out pins. Load another instance of SRC (name it Wave Rear) and set it to FXBus 6/7, then connect it's outputs to kXlt Analog Rear out pins. To understand the kX DSP concept, so you can understad how to make your own custom DSP setups succesfully, read the Guide here: http://driverheaven.net/showthread.php?t=55649 The first post has a link to the guide. Here's the direct link: http://members.home.nl/nahutec/kxtutor/kxtutor.html Also see this thread for example DSP setups: http://driverheaven.net/showthread.php?t=53629 And finally, Welcome to DriverHeaven.

Hi, I tried what you said and set the FXBus to 0/1, and set the default sound device to 0/1 in control panel, but it didn't change a thing and I still have the same problem. All sound duplicates fine through both speakers (2.1 setup btw) and the pair of headphones normally, EXCEPT the line-in which will only output to the headphones (front output) by enabling it in the mixer.
Now, I could set line-in as the record source, put that through FXmix, make it output to both rear and front output and have the sound come through both just fine, but everytime I want to use my mic I would have to change the setup back to how this is, since I can't have 2 seperate recording sources set for some reason. Any hints as to how I can have both my mic-in, and line-in working seperately, besides this way which clearly isn't working with the rear output? I'm stumped. |

Oh I forgot to say make sure speaker setup is set to 4.1/5.1(or whatever your soundcard can handle) in Windows Control Panel (Sounds and Audio Devices).
Save the DSP that works for you as a custom DSP setup. Give it a good name, then make the DSP like you want it for another purpose and save it with a different name. You can quickly load different DSP setups from the DSP window. |
