Game sound and kx PROBLEM
Hey I installed the kx project drivers and they play music well.
However, when I play games (GTA San andreas, Black Thorn) the sound sometimes plays correctly, sometimes not. Whenever there is direct sound (Music, videos) it is fine, but I cannot hear some in game conversations, walking, people talking etc. It is very very annoying. In Black Thorn the same thing happened, however I noticed that if I faced a certain way I could hear properly. This made me think it could be a problem with the surround, but that didnt fix anytihng after fiddling with the controls. I have a 5.1 SBLive! going through 2 stereo speakers on XP. Any help??? Athlon 1800+ XP XP Home 768MB RAM SB live! 5.1 GEForce 4 ti4200 Cheers. |

I've got my own problems using the kx drivers in San Andreas--everything seems to work fine except the radio stations. Either I get a loop of the radio-station-changing-static, or no radio sound at all. The official Creative driver kept cutting out dialog and sound effects; am I doomed to live without one or the other?

creative's drivers don't cut anything out. it's a problem with eax effects - if you use eax effects like advanced equalizer, click on sourceinfo and set the amount of original sound to 100%, this is set to 0% default that's why you don't hear some sounds. alternatively you could also disable eax effects
and with kx: i experienced the same things, there's nothing you can change in drivers or dsp to solve that. i guess direct sound implementation is just buggy. |

that is a known problem with GTA,
just check the forums on planetgta.com. the workaround is to go to sound settings and turn hardware acceleration to normal when you want to play. (and switch it back afterwards) and rockstar is already working on a patch. So no KX problem |

I have the same problems. Some sounds are like a popcorn in GTA.
