Help needed: kx mixer crashes on system boot (3537)

I love these drivers! But I'm having a slight problem with them. On system boot, when the driver tries to load it gives a message saying "kX mixer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." The button in the task bar reads "kX Restoring Settings" at this point. I click "close" and the driver quits.

Then if I go to the start menu and run kX mixer from there, it loads normally BUT does not successfully load my DSP setup (which I have named kxdefault.kx). It looks like it loads one item from it (a dynamics processor plugin) but is unable to translate it. If I then load my DSP setup manually it does load and all is well. No further problems until next time I boot the computer.

This problem goes away completely when I replace the dynamics processor plugin with an APS compressor. Seems like the driver is not liking something about the dynamics processor plugin on startup.

I've tried translating the dynamics processor plugin both before and after microcode. I've no idea what that means BTW and haven't found any reference to it in the docs (maybe I missed something?)

Has anyone else enountered this problem?

Some info about my system:

E-mu APS
Intel D865PERL
Intel P4 2.8Ghz @ 533 Mhz
1024MB RAM dual channel DDR 400 @ 333Mhz
Win XP SP1

Thanks in advance for any solutions!
