AC97 slider bug

I noticed a bug with the AC97 slider on the "Ins and Outs" page of kxmixer, where depending on plugin loading order, the slider will sometimes use the decibel scale, while at other times it will use a percentage (0 to 100) scale.

To recreate:

  • Reintialize the DSP.
  • Examine the AC97 slider on the "Ins and Outs" page of kxmixer. (notice that it's range is 0 to 100)
  • Unload prolog and epilog.
  • Reload epilog or one of the epilog alternative plugins (kxlt/epiloglt_k1/epiloglt_k2, etc).
  • Load prolog.
  • Examine the AC97 slider on the "Ins and Outs" page of kxmixer. (notice that it's range is now in decibels)
  • If you then unload prolog and epilog (or epilog alternative) and reload them (loading prolog first), the slider's range will again be 0 to 100.

So it seems that if prolog is loaded before one of the output plugins (epilog or one of the alternatives), the AC97 slider's range will be 0 to 100, but if prolog is loaded after those plugins, the range will be in decibels.

I am using kX 3538h. I do not know if this bug exists in previous 3538 versions, or in 3537.

BTW: Both plugins must be unloaded and then reloaded in the specific order to see the bug. Simply unloading prolog, and then reloading it (without unloading epilog), is not the same thing (even though it is loaded after epilog).

this is not a bug, but a feature
kxmixer scans all dsp assignments before showing DSP slider
if such assignment is found, it is replaced with corresponding winmm mixer slider instead
the next build, 3538l, will support assignment for master/synth/wave/rec sliders as well
(however, 'kx0' and 'kx1' assignments will no longer be available due to windows vista compatibility issue)
