Has anyone noticed a change in what wave formats can be used in a sound font between 3538H and 3538I?

I have 1 SF2 in particular that used to work (its an old project, so Im NOT certain it worked in H either) - that has a 44.1 wav as a sample - and its not working in sonar or vienna 2.3 now.

clarification:

Formats: Sample Rate / Bit depth / wave compression / # of channels

I DO have some SF2 with 44.1 Khz samples that DO work btw..

Update:

Vienna WILL NOT make use of a PCM/44Khz/16Bit/ MONO wave file - but the wave file plays fine in winamp with SRC.

I thought SF2 supported multiple wave formats.. but after looking through the SF21 specs, it appears the format is left up to the developer to deal with?? - its not easy reading that SF21 spec. and nothing seems to mention sample formats in the Sf21 application notes..

Additionally:
I have a soundfont that DOES work -
So in veinna 2.3 - I load the working SF2, I then export that sample - and re-import to a new SF2 - I get an error 'Unsupported format..'

I cant figure out why some 44/16/Mono/PCM sample based SF2 will work while others will not.

I wonder if its a SF2 I made with AWAVE wayyyy back in AWE32 days.??
