Can't reinstall on win98SE - _sp not responding
I run windows 98 SE and I recently installed kx3536 for SB Live! 5.1 model SB0100. I had no problems with the driver aside from an apparent incompatability with the game World of Warcraft. During an attempt to fix this problem, I removed the kx driver from my system. Now, when I go access the kxdrv3536_full.exe file to attempt and reinstall the driver, the program immediately hangs up on a small white box that usually holds the kx logo. The task manager shows "_sp (Not responding)".
Any suggestions? |

I am not sure why you are having problems reinstalling, but is there a reason why you are not using 3537? If not, then you might try installing 3537 and see if it works for you. Otherwise, I would try and locate and new copy of 3536 in case the version you have got corrupted somehow. You might also consider using Driver Cleaner to ensure there is nothing left over from a previous kX/CL driver installation, that might be causing problems.

I said 3536 because that's the version I've tried most recently. 3537 was what I had installed originally, and what I tried reinstalling first. The same problem seems to surface regardless of the version I'm trying, and I've already tried multiple copies of the install files.
I tried Driver Cleaner, which cleaned some lingering Creative files, but found no remnants of Kx. The problem still persists. |

Try booting into Safe mode, and clean out your Windows/temp folder, and delete the MFC .dll's (msvcrtd.dll, mfco42d.dll, mfc42d.dll) that kX uses, and then try the 3537 installation again.
