System Specs

LTB: Opteron 180/185 or 4600x2/4800x2 (939)

Got my new build put together and it's working great, but would like to add a bit more Oompf to the CPU end. I currently have a 3800x2 Manchester and would like to replace it with an Opteron 180 or 185, or a Athlon 4600x2 or a 4800x2 in the 939 pin flavor. My motherboard lacks adjustable voltage settings, so a lower cpu that overclocks will not work, otherwise I'd overclock what I already have.

I will have the cash to buy one in about a week or two if the price is right. So, if you have one of these little monsters sitting around gathering dust, let me know!

Although I can't really help you, it might be worth taking a look at slower Toledo chips if you can pick one up real cheap. My 3800 x2 Toledo clocks to 2.8 GHz at stock voltage.

Just by upping the fsb? With the A8V-X that is my only option, unless I can locat a modded bios that has stepping and voltage settings. It's unusual for an Asus board to be missing those settings. My 3800 is a Manchester, so it should be able to do the same. Actually, I had mine clocked at 2.2Ghz, but Bioshock freaked out at that setting, damn Unreal engine games.

Yes, fsb straight up, no voltage changes. I had a 3800 Manchester that made it to 2.4 GHz without before needing more voltage, IIRC.

Mine is the K8V-X, the AGP version. Yea, I looked, no option available in bios version 0703 which is the latest available for that particular board. Maybe possible if there is a modified version of the bios, but not the stock version.
