WTB: HD 5970 or... any other GPU better than 3870

as the title says.... i want a 5970....

but with the availability the way it is.... i cannot get one yet...

so im asking all the people of DH if you have one of the mighty 5970s.... i happily offer you $700 (feel free to bargain with me in the unlikely case that you want to sell a 5970)

im also looking for.... as secondary, any GPU, preferrably ATi that is an HD 3870 or higher.... to use in my system to hold me over...

so if any of you have a 3870, 3870X2, 4850, 4870, and up that you want to get rid of, ill give you some money for it.... please do be reasonable though....

preferrably US residents so we dont kill each other with international shipping...

Good luck man , If I were you I would wait "hopefully not much" to put my hands on a new one , Dirt 2 and warranty are two major reasons for getting a new one. I don't know if the warranty still applies for second hand sales or the first buyer will strip it out of Dirt2 voucher.

In the main time , you can still play games on your 3870HD lol.

I would've suggested the £58 4770 that I found but they don't seem to be selling it any more... Having twin 4770s probably would've done you well.

Thats about the standard retail price in the UK when converted (although there are no stocks here either). think yourself lucky.

I'm sure i could manage cheaper, but.... that's 950 CAD after my shipping and a very marginal markup.

I could probably swing $950 including shipping....

but you'd have to pay both taxes due to my business setup.... which is 10%.. which would put it @ $1045

Personally, i'm never spending over 500 bucks on a video card again,

After purchasing 3 of the x1900XTX's for about $850 PER.....

you can order the 5970 from ncix.com and put it on backorder for $699 (thats canadian, im not sure on the american) then they will ship it to you when it comes in.

If the 5970 drops below 500 AND they design it with a proper cooler that has some form of intelligent design put into it.

Alot of PCI-EX 1.0/1.1 based motherboards only support the newest 4xxx series GPU's.. the 5000 JUST WON'T WORK in those older slots..... the reports are flying up by the hundreds and they seem to cover all styles of chipsets and such.

I can't even get the 5350's to work, but i can get a 4870x2 or 4890 to work in the same rig, EVEN with an ati chipset.

I'm selling off two Sapphire 512MB 4870s, one fitted with an Arctic Cooling Twin Turbo and one without. My asking price is £100 and £90 respectively, though postage to the US could be costly.
