Default Post Sweet athlon system up for bids ;)

if you dont wanna bid, how much is this thing worth?

athlon classic 800mhz
512mb pc133 ram
40gb 5400rpm western digital IDE HDD
16mb diamond stealth video
onboard sound, on a compaq motherboard :S
PHAT compaq case (heh) with purple lining!
4x/4x/32x compaq CD-RW
10/100 LAN card
56k v.90 modem
floppy

its a modified compaq 7AP140, 4x the ram originally shipped w/it (128mb) and also upgraded to pc133 from pc100. i also replaced the video card inside. anyone have some ideas to how much this is worth? hell, if you want to buy it give me bids

i am building a new PC and i am willing to make some interesting trades if possible. i need:

athlon XP 1800+
512MB PC2100 DDR RAM
(2) IBM Deskstar 80GB 7200rpm

so if you can maybe trade me some or all of that stuff (about $380 together) i'd hook ya up.

Default Post My best guestimate?

I'd try for $500us selling it without a monitor and settle for $400 if I could get it. (Just my opinion, I've decided to start trying to guess system values as a hobby. )

Lol http://www.anandtech.com check out their SOHO system article... it should give you an idea of what this stuff is worth. Also go to http://www.pricewatch.com and see how much the parts are worth separately. That should give you some ideas... don't know about the 400$ rough estimate though. :/ Seems like everyone else agrees though....

If someone is offering $400 I would grab it before they change their mind.

Considering you can build your own 1800+ sysem with similar specs and much better video for just under $400.

i'm not going to bid, but i just wanted to tell you... if you dont want people to see anything *illegal* you may have, then i would suggest downloading a program to clean your hard drive. It completely covers the hard drive with zero's so its impossible to find out what you had. Because when you delete something it just deletes it from the "table of contents" the thing is still there.
