This image is a composite of two shots due to the fact that, at 100% Zoom, I can't get the entire image in the screen.

Sometimes I just wish the moon would spin so we can see the alien bases on the other side.

I have wondered quite often as to why we don't see the moon rotate. I got an answer a few weeks ago in the "Ask Marilyn" column in the Parade magazine.

She stated that, in eons of time past, the moon DID rotate. However, the moon is not a perfect sphere. So, as it continued to revolve around the earth AND spin on its axis, the gravitational pull between the earth and moon gradually caused the moon's rotation to slow down. It finally reached a point where the side of the moon with the largest mass, is now gravitational "stuck" always facing the earth.

"There is no dark side of the moon really...
Matter of fact it's all dark."

I thought as much. Thank you for clarifying.
