Well I have just received a email from my provider. Informing me that the package that I'm on is being phased out, and the have upped the speed of my internet connection.. And had a small reduction in price also.

not as fast as some and not exactly cheap either tbh, but considering where I live this is impressive :)

Quite happy with this speed... fibre upload would be nice, but I haven't found any real bottleneck for what I've wanted to do so far... the download is more than fast enough :D

Nice... I'd love a proper fibre line - I'm craving the ping :)

I find it a bit strange that so many people will test the closest server... quite often the one that is hosted by the same isp service is providing the connection. I typically test 500+ miles away... as it tends to give a better more accurate outlook on actually how fast things are, since the internal network of the isp should always be the fastest and rarely is representative of the actual internet connection.

A friend of mine's got Netflix 4K and on his brand new big screen curved 4K screen things look so real, it's crazy. It's like the actors are popping out or something. It's almost as if you're looking through a window.

We have to get some bugs worked out. Everything was working fine before I left for work and it's gone to pieces since. We're back on the Comcast system for the time being and an AT&T tech is scheduled for this afternoon.

Comcast won't be completely gone until I return the equipment this coming Wednesday...assuming that AT&T can get things working consistently.

BUT....we are experiencing some very serious packet loss issues. This is very apparent when using the XBOX ONE. It throws up a warning about it affecting the quality of the gaming experience.

Waiting for my new house, so I'm holed up for a few more weeks at my parents.

Their Internet is not as fast, as my old connection and my upcoming :(

So far, my 4K screen isn't supported by Netflix. I'm sure it will be in the near future, though. (I'm not sure exactly why the manufacturer of the TV makes any difference, though. ??? )

seiki right? wasn't it?..... last i checked... none of those screens had the computing power or decodes to properly handle full 4k AVC or HEVC decoding.... and you had to feed it via a computer using HDMI 2.0.

I know my samsung JU7500 does 4k playback of 8bit AVC 4k and 10bit HEVC 4k incredibly well.... and the netflix app does support HDR 4k hevc playback... but i have no hope in hell of EVER seeing 4k let alone HDR via netflix or youtube or anything anytime in the near future.. or even a decade from now... 720p consumes 5mbps and i'm lucky to get 3mbps atm.
