Antec LanBoy Air Modular Case

Antec LanBoy Air Modular Case – Introduction

A few years ago Antec were known for high quality, feature packed cases but they certainly couldn’t be called exciting. Focusing on functionality and clean design allowed them to create a large consumer base who wanted a quality product but it seems the designers were itching to make something a little different and luckily for them they were allowed to think out of the box for a while. The result was the Skeleton, an open air case which was hugely different to anything Antec had released before.

The Antec designers were let loose on power supply designs, creating the CPX form factor which allows for larger units and as a result significantly changing the internal layout. Think two PCB’s mounted in parallel.

In both cases Antec were reasonably successful, gaining some positive reviews and no doubt decent sales but it is probably fair to say that some consumers were scared off by these unique designs which brings us to today’s review…

Once again the designers at Antec have been given the chance to attack the case market with a novel product and that goes by the name of the LanBoy Air. This new case from Antec sticks with a reasonably standard layout but the chassis itself is modular with massive airflow thanks to the majority of the chassis being perforated.

Does this case stay close enough to the mainstream to convince "normal" consumers about taking a leap to something a little different? Let’s find out.
