Fractal Design Node 605 Case Review

For some time now Fractal Design have been making high quality cases which focus on stylish, minimalist design and low noise operation. Cases such as the Define R4 which we looked at here recently have impressed us greatly and we would have them right at the top of our list for builds which require low noise operation.

If there is any build which requires a low noise case it would be a HTPC and Fractal Design look to provide that with the case we are reviewing today. The Node 605 is designed to blend in with other home cinema equipment while still providing the low noise and high quality we associate with Fractal Design.

Packaging and Bundle

Fractal Design package the Node 605 in a reasonably plain cardboard box which has a basic image of the product on the front. Inside we find the case suspended in polystyrene and wrapped in a plastic bag for added protection. The product documentation is provided in a separate bag and the bundled items are stored in their own cardboard box within the main packaging.

Before we look at the case we wanted to note a couple of items that Fractal Design also produce, the first is the Adjust 108 fan controller. Although not used in this build (due to requiring a 5.25" drive bay) it is an interesting addition for almost any PC and allows us to control up to six fans from our front panel. We simply move the LED lit sliders up and down to vary the fan speed within our case.

Next is the Tesla R2 PSU, a component which we have used in todays build. With a quality finish, nice styling and gold rated efficiency it is ideal for a build where minimising temperatures and noise are required. Models are available from 500-1000w and the 650w version is also available in white.
