Noctua NH-L9i Low Profile Intel LGA 115x CPU Cooler Review
In our time running Hardware Heaven we have seen a wide range of CPU cooling approaches. From the stock Intel/AMD models, through enthusiast air cooling, TEC’s and even Vapochill LS which was so big it arrived on its own pallet and weighed 17KG! Mixed in with these there was a phase where water-cooling looked like it would go mainstream, only to be stopped in its tracks by closed loop liquid coolers.
For all that big tower coolers and closed loop liquid coolers have their uses, there is also a significant market out there for compact, low noise models. Noctua are looking to fill that gap with the NH-L9i which aims to be a replacement for the stock Intel model, or an ideal product for SFF and HTPC use.
Packaging and Bundle
Noctua try to emphasise that their cooler is compact but it isn’t until we see the box that we begin to realise just how small it might be. The cooler arrives packaged in a box not much bigger than 3 or so stacked DVD cases and inside we find the cooler and bundled extras suspended in foam and cardboard.
Bundled with the cooler we get four installation screws (socket 1155, 1156 and 1150 with an AMD only model available). Also included is the manual for Intel systems, some thermal paste, case badge and a set of screws for larger fans.
