AMD Athlon 7750 Black Edition and Asus M3A78-T

On First Page2. Athlon 7750 Black Edition

Introduction

We have to admit to being a little surprised a few weeks ago when AMD emailed us to say our review sample of the new high-end Athlon CPU was on its way. 2006 was the last time we had such an email and since then the Phenom line of processors has been AMD’s focus, with a limited number of Sempron models released into the budget marketplace. The model we are testing today is the 7750 Black Edition, quite a jump from the current highest model, the 6400+.

So, is this just a clockspeed bump on the old core or something new? Will it prove to be an expensive upgrade path and what benefits does it offer over the older Athlons? Today we will be covering all of those questions as we run the CPU through a selection of mostly real world tests to establish who should by buying the Athlon 7750 Black Edition.
