Lost Planet – Colonies

Lost Planet was tested at 1920×1200 with no anti-aliasing and 16x anisotropic filtering. All game settings were at their maximum level and DirectX 10 was selected.

Of all the games featured in this review so far Lost Planet Colonies is without doubt the most demanding and this is clear to see from the performance of each card. Even ATI’s recently released 4870 is unable to perform well at our chosen resolution and the only cards which can be considered useable are based on Nvidias GTX 200 series. This changes slightly when we add a second 4870 but even then the GTX 280 is the top performer.

Unfortunately we noticed some artifacting on both 280 cards at 1920×1200 which we are guessing is due to the fact that both companies are running memory over the modules ceiling of 1200mhz/2400mhz. Testing procedures should be more thorough for retail cards and if not, both companies offer warranty cover.
