The story of the game takes place during the time of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. H.A.W.X. is set in the near future where private military companies have essentially replaced government-run military in many countries. The player is placed in the shoes of David Crenshaw — an ex-military elite pilot who was recruited by one of these corporations to work for them as one of their pilots, fighting whoever and whenever he is told to.
H.A.W.X was run in DirectX 10 mode at 2560×1600 with 8x anti-aliasing and 16x anisotropic filtering. As with all games in this review the detail levels were set to their maximum level and we played through a demanding in game scenario.
In this game we see that when the detail levels and onscreen action are pushed to their limit the standard GTX295 just scrapes in with acceptable performance. A single MARS on the other hand handles this title with ease. SLI results are very impressive with some great scaling on show; the average framerate nearly doubles in Quad GPU mode.
