Zotac GeForce GTX 460 AMP! Review

Zotac GTX 460 AMP! Edition

Just over a month ago NVIDIA launched the GTX 460, their latest DirectX 11 GPU. Unlike the GF100 based GTX 480/470 and 465 before it the GTX 460 used a new core, the GF104, which had been designed to provide excellent gaming performance at the $199-230 price point. On launch day we reviewed various versions of the GTX 460 and found it to be an impressive product and the most well balanced GTX 400 series card.

Now, just over a month later, Zotac are releasing their "AMP! Edition" of the GTX 460 and hope that its redesigned cooler and enhanced specifications will appeal to enthusiasts on a budget. Today we take a look at that card and find out in a selection of real world tests how it compares to the standard GTX 460 as well as a couple of Radeons in the same price range. Games covered include Mafia 2, Lost Planet 2 and StarCraft 2 with the usual mix of 3D Blu-Ray and GPU computing tests.
