ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 Graphics Card Launch Review
Mafia 2 – DirectX 9 / PhysX
Recently 2K Games released one of the most anticipated games of 2010, Mafia 2, which is a title that looks fantastic in surround mode and for those who have a capable system it also supports PhysX and 3D.
Testing was performed at 1920×1080 and 5760×1080 with anti-aliasing ON and 16x anisotropic filtering. High in game settings were enabled and PhysX was set to off/high.
As Mafia 2 allows us to enable/disable the PhysX effects we have tested the GTX 590 with both settings to show how it compares to the Radeon 6990. With PhysX off, giving the two cards an identical workload, the GTX 590 performs higher than the Radeon. When we enable PhysX, enhancing the image quality to a level which isn’t possible on the 6990 or GTX framerates drop as expected however the gameplay is still completely smooth.
Here are a couple of examples of how the game looks at the tested settings.
