GPU Assisted Media Conversion

As with the higher priced Radeon models these value orientated cards can be set to assist our processor when performing demanding tasks such as video encoding. The results below show how performance changes when we use the Sapphire GPU rather than Intel’s GPU/CPU combination.

Our media encoding test takes a 4GB 1920×1080 file and converts it with Arcsoft Media Convertor 7 to iPad format with Intel/AMD GPU computing enabled.



Benchmark Results



In this test we can see the benefits of including a 65/6600 series card in our test system; it enhances the performance of when encoding video and even in our short test drops 10seconds off the time taken to convert the video to iPad format.
