Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 OverClock Edition Graphics Card Review
It was always going to be interesting to see what AMDs partners would do with the 7850 and as is often the case Sapphire are first to demonstrate what can be done. With its custom PCB and dual slot cooler we have a card which significantly improves on the reference design card which was sent to reviewers, running quieter and through Sapphires clock tweaks, faster.
These tweaks to the clock speed ensure that in scenarios where the 7850 compared favourably to the GTX 560 Ti OC previously that it pulls further ahead and in other places where it was slower, something which is rare, the Sapphire version performs closer to the NVIDIA card.
There are also some great benefits to using the Sapphire card in terms of temperatures and power use, both falling significantly when compared to the GTX 560 Ti and even the older 6870 which is great to see.
Sapphire also provide consumers with a great bundle of extras which goes far beyond what many manufacturers offer. This includes a mini-DisplayPort convertor and a free HDMI cable to ensure maximum flexibility when setting up a new system.
An impressive version of the 7850 which offers great performance at 1920×1080 while running cool, quiet and on lower power than the competition.
