NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 Kepler vs Radeon 7970 Max Overclock Graphics Card Review

3DMark 2011

3DMark was tested using the Extreme profile.

Benchmark Results

We start the performance section of this review with a quick look at how the GTX 680 compares to the current fastest single GPU products from NVIDIA and AMD in the latest 3DMark. In this scenario we see that there is a significant increase from 580 to 680, nearly 1000 points. The new GTX also improves on the reference 7970 by nearly 500 points while coming close to the performance of the 7970 at its maximum stable overclock.

Speaking of overclocks, from this point on in the review we are going to make things tough for the GTX 680 by putting it against the fastest GTX 580 (an overclocked model with 3GB of memory) along with the 7970 at its maximum stable speed of 1265/1505MHz. Reference 7970 results are quite interesting too so they stay in also.
