Kingston HyperX DDR3 2400 and DDR3 1600 LoVo Review
Kingston HyperX DDR3-2400
Kingston package their HyperX memory in a large cardboard box which contains plastic protective sections that house the memory and bundled extra. The box logos tell us that the memory has a lifetime warranty and inside we find the HyperX Fan. This cooler is similar to that provided by other manufacturers and clips on to the memory slots on our motherboard. It features aluminium housing, two Blue LED 60mm fans, 3-pin plug and runs at 3000RPM creating 28dBA of noise.
These unbuffered, non-ECC, 240-pin DIMMs use a green PCB and large blue aluminium heatsinks. Attached to the front of the heatsink is a sticker which informs us of the specification of these modules. They are certified to run at a massive 2400MHz with timings of 9-11-9-27 at that speed. To reach these specifications we require the standard Core i7 voltage of 1.65v.
These 2GB sticks are programmed with SPD settings for 609 and 685MHz and also feature an XMP profile for the rated speed of DDR3-2400 as well as 2000 at the advertised timings.
NOTE: Running DDR3-2400 requires that the end user overclocks their CPU.
