When thinking about extreme memory kits we have tested in the past a few companies come to mind but one really sticks out; Kingston. As the memory market has evolved they always seem to be at the forefront, pushing their kits a little further than most such as their early 24GB high MHz kits for X58.
Today we have another set of extreme modules from Kingston in our test system and with the "Beast" model name this 32GB kit had better impress. We will be putting the Beast sticks through a selection of synthetic and real world tests to find out how these 2400MHz modules perform.
Kingston package their modules in plastic with a clear front panel which allows us to see the kit. Two modules are present in each pack.
Kingston use a green PCB on the Beast modules and attach the cooler, which gives them their name, to each side. Kingston select premium chips for these modules, to maximise performance and overclocking then the aluminium heat spreaders help to minimise temperatures while increasing lifespan. Additionally each module is factory tested before dispatch.
In terms of specifications each module contains 8GB of memory which will run at 2400MHz using 11-14-14-33 timings and 1.65v. Kingston have SPD and X.M.P. programmed the modules with the latter giving us the advertised settings on a 2T command rate. There is also a second profile which gives us the same timings at a 2133MHz speed (1.6v) to maximise compatibility. With X.M.P. being present we simply enter the BIOS, select the XMP profile we want, save then reboot. It’s as simple as that to hit 2400MHz.
