Sapphire are a very well known company and one of AMD’s largest board partners. For a long time they have been solely focusing on producing ATi/AMD based motherboards and graphics cards. This year Sapphire began diversifying into other areas of the market in an effort to make the company slightly less reliant on the chipset market which faced a massive sales drop during the last quarters of 2008.
Today we review one of Sapphire’s new products and their first PSU, the FirePSU 625W unit. The company claims that the PSU is optimized for workstations and it boasts some very good features and specifications, but is it good enough to compete against the many renowned companies in today’s PSUs market?

Packaging and Bundle
The FirePSU is supplied in a sturdy and attractive cardboard box which is decorated with attractive artwork. Information about the unit’s features and specifications can be found on all of the sides of the box. The box is very sturdy and the unit itself is wrapped in a plastic bubble bag. It would be hard to damage the unit during shipping but protection could be improved with the addition of a few Styrofoam pieces.
Inside the box are the necessary modular cables and a useful storage bag for those you aren’t going to use. There is also an AC power cable and mounting screws, a well written manual and a sticker with ATi’s FireGL logo. For those unaware, ATi’s FireGL logo refers to a series of workstation and professional based graphics cards. The sleeving of the cables is black but has a red thread pattern, which significantly improves their appearance.
