When Corsair launched their AX range of PSUs back in 2010 they received significant praise across the web. Build quality was top notch but more importantly performance was class leading and when the product was backed by a 7-year warranty it was clear that Corsair had great faith in the long term reliability of the PSU.
Lower specification models in the AX range followed, each hitting high performance and quality levels for the wattage category and then more recently the range received a significant upgrade. The AX1200i might not sound too different to the original but it arrived complete with Platinum certification and Corsair Link, a combination of hardware and software monitoring and management.
Following the success of their AX1200i PSU Corsair are today bringing the features to a new performance level and price point with the AX860i. Can this new unit impress as much as the 1200w model?
Packaging and Bundle
Corsair stick with their standard styling for the box design on this model, giving us plenty of feature and technical information on the various sides while going for a red colour scheme. Inside the PSU is protected by a second box, surrounded by foam and then contained in a bag. The various cables, screws etc are held in a separate pouch and a short manual for the PSU range is provided along with a mains cable. In addition to this we also get a note of where to go for our PSU software and that ties in with the last couple of items pictured above. The larger item is the Corsair Link controller which connects via internal USB to our motherboard with the top cable then passing from the Link to our PSU.
