Black Screen Issue With Dual Monitors

I have an ATI X850XT AGP Video Card. With the most recent versions of both the ATI drivers (7.10) and the Omega drivers made from them, I have had a most annoying problem. When rebooting after installing either set with both monitors plugged in I get a black screen even with safe boot. I discovered while I was using the old put in another video card trick that if I unplugged one of the monitors I didn't get the black screen.

I bought Driver Cleaner.Net to hopefully get around his problem. I'm not sorry that I did but it didn't make any difference. I still get the black screen with both monitors plugged in.

I have gone back to the 3.8.231 Omegas from Summer, 2006, which don't have this problem.

Any suggestions as to how to get the newer drivers not to do his?

Thanks,

Steve

System Specs

Have you also tried the official ATI 6.12 and 7.1? If the 7.1 have it and like the 6.12 not then there is a problem in the new 7.1 driver, if that is the case then you should file in a report by ATI Catalyst Crew Feedback on the ATI site.
