??? Newbie - Nvidia 6800 gt to ATI x1950

OK,
I am about to try an upgrade and just want to proactively verify what I think should be the steps from the Driver Cleaner and new board install instructions;
  • Uninstall Nvidia display software using add/remove in CP.
  • Check in Device Manager to be sure the 6800 display driver is gone. If not, right click and uninstall there
  • Then disconnect from internet and restart in safe mode. Presumably the monitor will still work using a generic safe mode driver. Is this correct?
  • Now run Driver Cleaner with filter set for Nvidia display.
  • Turn off computer and replace 6800 with ATI x1950
  • Turn computer back on load drivers/software supplied with new ATI board
Is this basically correct? I want to proactively assure I'm not missing anything before I begin. Any other advice before I begin would be greatly appreciated.
Peace,
BigDoggy

Hi,

yes the monitor will still work is uses a default windows vga driver.

The steps you describe are right. The filter you should select is nVidia, because that is for the nVidia display drivers.
