New user question

New user question, before taking Driver Cleaner for a "test drive..."

Will Driver Cleaner recognize older drivers and work ok on my nearly 4-year-old machine?

Specs: Pentium P4 2_53 GHz 512k 533MHZ FSB; Asus P4T533 Intel P4 533MHz RDRAM ATX Motherboard; VisionTek GeForce2 MX 420 64MB PCI SDRam Video Card; (video driver: nv4_mini.sys, v. 6.14.10.4523); CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device, v. 5.10; 2 Samsung RAMBUS 256MB (= 512 MB) 1066MHz 32 Bit 4200 Non-Ecc RIMM Memory; Windows XP Pro, SP2 and all updates.

Thanks. - Roger

System Specs

Driver Cleaner doesn't really reconize drivers. In the program is a list of filters, you can find the filter list and for what it is used in the help file. So to uninstall for example nVidia display drivers you need to follow the steps in the help file and then when you run Driver Cleaner you need to select the nVidia filter.

For the program it doesn't matter if the driver is old or new. The filters are a special list with entries in it from files, directories and registry from old and new drivers.

So the program can clean old and new drivers. Driver Cleaner can clean your GeForce driver, but i am not sure about your CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device, because i don't think i have an filter for that. I will look into that and if possible create 1 for that in a update.
