sarahmcm is on a distinguished road

no onboard sound realtek ac97 ga-vm800pmd

we had a mobo failure, replaced mobo with new ga-vm800pmd, ran repair install of winxpp, no onboard sound. stuck in a sound card, goes fine.

still concerned about the onboard sound failure (is this a hw fault on new mobo or is it a driver/xp/registry fault?).
- removed sound driver for realtek ac97, booted, vinyl ac97 autoinstalled, no sound
- removed vinyl ac97, ccleaner registry clean, installed realtek ac97 from mobo driver cd, reboot, no sound
- purchased & ran drivercleaner (removed realtek sound drivers, disconnect from network, booted safe mode, removed vinyl sound driver, ran drivercleaner with both vinyl & realtek), reboot, no sound

any ideas????
Many thanks

Hi,

So the onboard soundcard installs normally?

Did you check things like sound level so if it is not muted?

If it installs ok and the sound level is ok and the speaker line is connected right on the back then the best thing you can do is return the mobo for a new 1, because i think it is not good.
