Driver Cleaner deleted half my pc???!!

I installed driver cleaner pro. Used it to remove my old nvidia drivers, installed my new ati driver and it was fine.

I've now come to the point of not needing driver cleaner, so went to uninstall it. While uninstalling it has deleted ALL of the files from my desktop but left exes and the folders!

PLEASE please can someone help me, as I had very inportant files on my pc!

I have tried system restor, but still missing files.

Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven!

Just a question is there a folder called "unused desktop icons", or something like that, on the desktop. It does sound like the desktop cleaning wizard has moved them away.

So you had files and documents on your desktop? Thats unusual, but anyway I think your best option is to use a program like easy recovery. Just remember that the more you use your computer and wriite / delete files, the chance for a succesfully recovery are getting smaller and smaller.

I don't know what happend, but i am sure if the installer is unmodified and from me that it is impossible. DC Pro is not updated for like 1,5 years and you can't download it here anymore, i can't say if other sites modded the installer or not. The original uninstaller never touches any other files.

Let me make this abundantly clear.

Driverheaven Cleaner Pro is no longer supported by Driverheaven, it has not been supported or developed for well over 18 months and we removed it from our servers a LONG time ago. Drivercleaner.net (dot NET) is the application we developed for vista and it was rewritten from the ground up.

www.drivercleaner.net

We have spent considerable time asking a ton of websites to STOP hosting Pro, Platinum and all the other old code versions for various reasons but because its free people still host it and download it.

I am really sorry it has caused issues but if you had came to this site to ask about it then this wouldnt have happened. I suggest you email the site who was hosting it and link them to this post I have just made.

The issues the thread starter made are nothing to do with Drivercleaner Pro as it is impossible the application will delete EXES in the manner explained so im sure the application is fake/rogue or something else on the system has caused the issue such as trojans or viruses. I suggest you run some anti virus and spyware applications.

Moral of the story - ALWAYS COME TO DRIVERHEAVEN AND DOWNLOAD FROM OUR SERVERS
