Nonpresent Devices

I have a paid copy of DriverCleaner.net (recent). I have used it to remove drivers.

However, I have been using a drive cloning tool to move an OS into another machine (not pirating, using on legal vol license) and this causes phantom or "ghost" devices to be present in Windows.

The long way to fix this is to set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 then "show hidden devices" in device manager, and manually remove the "ghosts" (greyed out devices) by uninstalling each one separately.

Is there a shorter way, using my new DriverCleaner.net tool?

Re: Nonpresent Devices

Hi,

checking that in DriverCleaner.NET is not possible.

I am not sure if there is a way to scan for those devices. Have to look into that and see what is possible.

Re: Nonpresent Devices

I looked at this a little, DevCon might be interesting (source code is available).

The DevCon command-line utility functions as an alternative to Device Manager

This is beyond me.
