Hi,

Tried today to update my ATI Graphics Driver on a Toshiba A200 with HD2600, running Vista, but failed to do so. After modding, only the Catalyst Control Center was installed, nothing else.

So far the Modder worked perfectly up to ATI Driver 9.1 last month.
Also this time, took about 30sec to complete.

Any suggestions? Didn't do anything different since I use it for more than a year.

The same situation happens to my Dell Studio 17, Mobility HD 3650, only CCC was installed, nothing else. the driver can not be installed.

Hi Guys,

I have the same problem, but i found the solution to myself.

So, mobility modder dont modify a little .inf file, that cause the problem.

First, download the 9.2 catalyst, unpack them

Run mobility modder, and modify the driver

Download this file, and unzip to
ATI\SUPPORT\9-2_vista32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_75976\
Driver\Packages\Drivers\Display\LH_INF, and overwrite the old one.

Then install the driver. It worked for me (vista 32 bit, Mobility X1600).

Many thanks - worked for me too updating display drivers only. Still have the incorrectly identified hardware though. HD3450 displayed although I have HD3470.

I think the false detect is not my fault.

What i do, is not hard:
i unpacked the 9.1 catalyst, modded it with mobility modder, checked .inf files with different data, then made a little copy paste to the 9.2 catalyst inf file

Thanks for the attached file above.Actually i also wanna to know how to fix the problem manually,or could be taught some instruction. Should the Modder be updated to adapt new versiion?
One thing is why ATI made such change in their INF file?

I solved this problem:
1)Open CL_75976.inf
2)replace the line "ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3470" = ati2mtag_M72, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_95C4 with "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 " = ati2mtag_M72, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_95C4&SUBSYS_9035104D which is the second line in the Id hardware of your video card.
3)I also changed the last line number which refers to hd 3450. i.e.: replace PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_95C4 with PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_95C9 but should not be necessary.

Thanks for suggestion flowerpower - unfortnately it didn't work.

I replaced line in file CL_75976.inf as you suggested. I also tried same line with &SUBS_01381025 ending which is the actual second line of my hardware id on my Acer TravelMate 6593G.

I tried adding a space after device name before end quote. I changed &DEV_95C4 reference on HD 3450 line as you suggested & even removed the complete HD3450 line.

In every case 9.2 drivers installed fine but left HD 3450 reference.

If I allow Windows update to install the current drivers they have for my machine (8.570) or roll back I do get correct HD 3470 description but no other way.

ok, uninstall drivers and clean with driver sweeper (select ATI, analize and clean).
reboot.
Control panel -->System --->Device Manager --->video cards and uninstall video card (with driver) the card could be called hd 3450.
download this driver.
install.
now should work.

Adam. really thanx. After having spent annoying minutes for ''a seconds update'' ,then came to a hopeless point with mobility modder. Finally came around Driversheaven and read Adam's instructions. To my opion ,The drawback with 9.2 is rather important and the solution should be announced by more outstanding methods.

If you are using Windows 7 remove 6.1 from the inf file. Should look like this

[Manufacturer]
%ATI% = ATI.Mfg, NTx86.6.0

I used device manager to update it. Not sure if it will work during normal install.

Thanks flowerpower finally got latest drivers installed with correct card name. Followed your instructions to remove & clean, then used your CL_75976.inf but with normal ATI drivers modded with latest MM 1.1.2.0 - see sticky above.

Only problem I had was after uninstalling hardware/drivers from Device Manager. There is then no hardware to install new drivers to until you re-boot. Vista then auto installs old drivers.

I guess I could have intercepted that & pointed to the new drivers, but they installed ok afterwards so not sure if the hardware uninstall was needed. Also took a while to re-customise my display settings.

Anyone know how to mod the 9.2 drivers to install on the MSI GT725 (Mobility 4850)? I've yet to even try any games... i can't even run 3dMark Vantage without it crashing.

I've got the original catalyst drivers from MSI (driver 8.560) and thought it ought to be easy enough to cut and paste between inf files but either im doing something wrong or the 9.2 cats work a little differently?

Any ideas? The modder (1.1.2.0) is of no help.

Nevermind, I figured it out. Pesky oem.inf blocking the driver upgrade.

I have a similar problem. I installed 9.4 drivers, but Device Manager now shows HD 3450 hardware. In 9.4 is only CL_78237 file. Which line should I overwrite?
