Effects, but not recording them

I'm a novice, and can't seem to find any thread regarding my problem. If I'm wrong I'm sorry.

Using the kx asio in my cubase sx, I'm getting plenty of signal (voice). My problem is, that I want to monitor my input using effect in real-time (vst, directX), but I do not want to record the effect to track. The signal must be clean. How do I do this?
I'm using a Live! value card by Creative. The kx driver seems to work fine with my card, but I just can't figure out how to set things up

Fixed...

here goes

this is what i did

I use FLStudio

in the effects i chose track 2 for example and set its input as kx in 00/01 i set its output as FX3

i then chose FX3 and signal will be coming through that channel, i apply the effect to the fx3 chan,

when it comes time to record i record track 2, not track 3 with the effect,

that way it records the guitar or mic clean with no effects, and you can record with effects, but it doesnt save them into the wav

hope that helps

Jim
