Cool! Asynth 1.1c / DSP Setup/ Newbies Guide to making a sound

Asynth 1.1c!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before i Ask Questions. Lex the developer of this baby certainly knows his shit. This is to my ears the nicest synth sound to eminate from within and out of a computer(errrr or soundcard DSP chip i guess) and hands down i wanna use it over other synths i paid a lot of money for. Just as a quick referral to check that i wasn't imagining the rounded sound i heard reminiscient of analog godliness. I checked the output of the demo sound examples next to Asynth and The Drum Machine with a spectrum analyser and i could now see what i havent been able to see with my other VSTis. It doesn't spike in the frequencies that it shouldn't. This is a problem with the VSTis i own that i think could be derived from even and odd harmonics mixing incorrectly to produce either an ugly sound or a sound that is not quite there and requires a lot to make it sort of sit right in a mix. From what was provided however i heard nothing of that distasteful artifact. It makes me excited that i will be able to play this synth from within my soundcard. Almost like owning a new piece of quality hardware.SO.....................

It is my greatest embarresment to say that even after your excellent tutorials and exampple setup pictures and reading every post i could lay my tired eyes on that i cant get a sound out of Asynth 1.1c. I set it up exactly the way that Lex has in the picture example apart from a few anaomalies i guess are down to driver level and really only have to do with the exact name of the plugin but still no joy. I will keep trying believe me until i get it but right now i really need help.

My equipment for this computer is a soundblaster live platinum 5.1 with a midi controller edirol pcr-30. Driver model is the 3537 variety.
Thanks in Advance to any that would find time to help a novice.
Kind regards to Lex . Beautiful thing that synth mate

Thanks for the 'flowers'!

- First thing to check is if the MIDI indicator on Asynth
lights up when you press a key on your midi keyboard.
If not, no sound will ever come out of the synth.
Check your midi setup/ports etc.
Use midiyoke if you play Asynth through a sequencer,
or select kxuart to connect directly.

- In the DSP, connect a 'Peak' meter to Asynth's output (or use mx6's meters)
to verify that there is actualy signal coming from the synth.
(btw, this is a common method to trace signals in the DSP)

If that Peak shows signal, then the rest is a matter of
drawing some bleu wires (aka 'DSP setup') to get the signal to the outputs.

HTH,

/Lex

Thanks for such a quick reply Lex.

Okay first step is where its going wrong . Midi indicator is not lighting up unless i plug or unplug something or i turn my power switch on the keyboard to DC instead of USB. Kxuart or edirol midi in 1 thru 3 are not working either. So is it a mixer issue, .

Sorry, I don't know what you mean with "..So is it a mixer issue.."
This is all very basic MIDI related stuff.

Asynth works the same as any other app that uses (opens) a midi input port.
So you just select (open) that midi input port to which you have connected your keyboard.
