Toadly_Ossum is on a distinguished road

2 computers connected VIA Live Drive SPDIF

Hi Folks,
I havent been around lately, 3534f been working so well.

Anyway I have 2 computers setup with audigy2 and live drives. Im using the 2nd pcs live drive for a mic pre-amp and running that signal via SPDIF to the primary pc and it works great. That got me to thinking, how many signals will SPDIF support? In other words could I use more of the inputs on the 2nd pc sent via SPDIF to primary PC and send them to sepearate ASIO channels?

Thanks Schel

SPDIF only support 2 channels (i.e. stereo signal), unless some kind of compression is used (AC3, etc).

Compressing to AC3 will likely be problematic with latency. Not to mention KX isnt 'great' at decoding AC3 from external SPDIF sources. (for me anyway - I get occasional 'stuttering' and with DVD's - drift of video to audio sync)

And - check to see if your card has (3) SPDIF OUTS on the read 'DIGITAL OUT' connector (assuming yours has this as well - ??) Mine does, as my card boasts '7.1' capability. But, like the ANALOG outs, I need a special 4 conductor jack to have access to these additional signals.
Just fyi, in case you weren't aware of this.
